I to Edward Saxon Richards: ‘Edvardo Saxon Richards / Collegii St. Petri Radleiensis / alumno / In Examinatione Publica / Propemodum Victori(?) / Diligentice ergo custos socius(?)que / Octob 23. 1854’. Richards was born in 1837 and became one of the first prefects of Radley School. He was awarded an Exhibition to Trinity College, Oxford, in 1855, but died in 1857, part-way through a successful Oxford undergraduate career; his father, the Rector of Farlington, Hampshire, founded Radley’s Richards Gold Medal in his memory. Collier’s Ecclesiastical History of Great Britain was first published in 1708 and 1714; this 1845-46 publication was intended ‘to give an accurate reprint of Collier’s great work without note or comment, adding the controversial pieces relating to the History published at the time, and a Life of the Author, embracing a review of his opinions, and those of the Nonjurors as a body, expressly written for this edition’ (Advertisement, vol. IX, p. iii). Robust packaging. Tracking can be added to overseas orders on request. Used books are exempt from USA tariffs.
