Leather hinges cracking along spine edges but firm, except front board of volume VI and rear board of volume V detached. The 2 original fold-out maps are not present. Each volume has the armorial bookplate of Sutton Sharpe(1798-1843), a Lincoln’s Inn QC who was friends with both Stendhal and Prosper Merimee, and the smaller bookplate of his younger brother, Daniel Sharpe (1806-1856), who was elected President of the London Geological Society in 1856.
